All Travel Registrants of Monroeville Soccer Club,
The MSC Board has voted to officially cancel the 2020/2021 Travel tryouts this year. This decision was not an easy one, however, in the end, MSC is up against a tight timeline to declare all Travel teams to our PA West governing body, Board approve all teams once proposed, email registrants a Travel roster invite, provide time to accept those roster invites, order uniforms and hopefully have all of this in place for any team wishing to play in the Plum Kickoff Classic tournament, time to practice and be ready all before the regular season begins.
What does this mean for my player(s):
1) At this time, the Travel season is still on track to be played this year.
2) Travel teams will be formed based on registration numbers (first and foremost), previous season coach evaluations, previous year coach communications (if needed). All teams must be approved by the MSC Board before invites are sent to players.
3) Coaches will not be assigned until MSC has enough accepted roster spots to guarantee a team. Anyone interested in coaching, or assistant coaching, their child's/athlete's team please email the registrar at registrar@monroevillesoccer.org
4) To repeat, all teams must be voted on and approved by the MSC Board, so no single person, evaluation or coach can sway the makeup of any team.
5) MSC usually creates two-year age groups to form a single Travel team. Therefore, most Travel team rosters will change dramatically from year to year, which can affect the number of roster spots available on each team.
6) Despite tryouts being cancelled, MSC is confident in our ability to be impartial, fair, knowledgeable and make decisions based not on a single player or team, but on the betterment of our players, our players' future as they get older as more teammates are needed to fill larger rosters and overall betterment of the club's members. This may not always come across at face value, but many volunteer hours have been spent making sure there is a season and it is done right.
7) After Travel roster invites are sent out, for those that were offered a spot on a particular team we are going to ask that you respond to accept or decline within a week's time, so we may make any adjustments needed in fairness to the remainder of the team. (Note that in the unfortunate event that the season is cancelled prior to the start, MSC will refund 100% of your paid registration fee.)
9) MSC is hoping to have teams created and approved this week.
10) For those that are new to MSC Travel soccer this year and need to order a uniform, or for those that need to order new/replacement uniform parts, information will be sent out regarding how to order your uniform once your team's roster invites have all been accepted.
11) Know that MSC is as ready as you are to see these kids on the field again!
